My Recommendations for Organizing Old Photos
We all know that organizing our photos is a good thing. But we often lack the why behind that duty. I for one haven’t touched my photos in quite some time because in my mind it’s such a daunting task. It’s also not in my wheelhouse when it comes to genealogy. I love photos! I love the stories behind them! But I don’t love organizing them and storing them. So I’ve looked online to see what the professionals have said about doing this great work for genealogy and how to find our why.

- The Best Way to Organize Your Old Family Photos by abbymurphyphoto.com-another basic organizing website that is easy to follow and show a step by step process to get those photos done!
- How to Organize Printed Photos: The Ultimate Guide by familyphotokeeper.com-this is an older website, but one that has tons of information to help you decide on what to keep and what give away, what to sort and what not to sort, etc.
- 6 Steps to Organizing and Managing Your Digital Photos by familytreemagazine.com-I loved this one because it was simple and pulled in many different professional photographers to talk about their systems. They all had basically the same system, but they each personalized it to their needs. And Family Tree Magazine never disappoints!
Websites or Articles I Recommend for Photo Storage

Last Thoughts on Organizing Old Photos
The internet is so cool and at the same time so overwhelming with its information. I was able to learn what I needed to in order to organize my aunt’s photos that she sent. I am able to get an overall vision for what I want to do with those photos and I feel more connected. I may not know all of their stories, but I do know just a little more than I did, which helps me feel like I belong with them. I’m so excited to learn more about them. It makes me want to research them and put a timeline to these pictures and see if I can get more stories about them.
So what about you? Ready to learn more from these articles and websites and tackle those photos? If so, then check out my first blog post in this series called Reliable Ways to Organize and Store Old Photos.
And in the meantime…good luck and happy hunting!
