Wednesday Wisdom-Trees and Genealogy

Hey everyone! Have you ever looked at a tree in winter and saw all of the many branches on it? There are hundreds of branches twisting and turning to reach the sun.  We have a huge tree in our front yard that is beautiful to me.  I love watching the tree change during its many seasons.  My favorite is the fall because it explodes in fiery yellows and oranges.  It seems to say I changed my clothes for the fall. Then winter comes and I see how many branches our tree has. It’s amazing any leaf can grow because it just looks too crowded.
I want to liken this to our family trees.  Like a real tree, our family trees grow and branch out into crazy paths.  They twist and turn and even seem to fall off the tree!  I’ve had people come up to me and say that all of their genealogy is done and that there’s no more work for them to do.  I say in my head to that, “Ptooey!” Then I politely say to them, “have they looked at a tree lately and seen all of the branches?” That’s exactly what your family tree is doing.  Look deeper into your tree because I guarantee there is someone that you’ve missed.  The main branches may already be done, but not every branch.  So try harder and look deeper.  Someone is waiting for you to find them.

Therefore, for this month, think of your trees and find that branch that nobody knows about.  I promise you that it will be worth the effort.
Good luck!
